ENS Josh Watson Was A Member Of NRC Junior Rifle Team

We received the following email from former Junior Team coach Michele Makucevich:

“Please let Newport Rifle Club members know that the 23-year-old Annapolis grad and hero in Pensacola was a member of our own junior team the year he attended the Naval Academy Prep School.

Josh was a wonderful young man who went to many matches with us, including traveling to the Canadian Gran Prix and shooting the Civilian Marksmanship Program Open. He was close with Danielle Makucevich and Alex Muzzioli. In fact, he recruited Alex to go to Annapolis, encouraging him and acting as a big brother upon Alex’s arrival. Josh served as the Navy Rifle Team team captain his senior year.

He only recently arrived in Pensacola for pilot training before his life was cut short. The Officer on Duty during the attack, Josh took at least 5 bullets. Despite his mortal injuries, he crawled to inform authorities or the description and whereabouts of the shooter and this act is credited with saving countless lives.

Please fly our flag at half staff in memory of our young hero and pray for his family, teammates, fellow service members, friends and the shooting community that is mourning his loss.“
