The Newport Rifle Club hosts The Rifles of the Snow matches on the first Sunday of the month during the fall and winter months.

Rifles of the Snow is a 3-position 40 shot course of fire using military bolt action rifles with iron sights, as issued.

Examples are Springfield 1903, Mosin-Nagant variants, Swiss K-31 to name a few.

All shooters must be qualified on the outdoor range to participate.
